Volunteer Program

High school leaders will be matched with a senior that they will spend time with and build connections with. Forget Me Never Foundation will provide a variety of activities that students can complete with their match.

By volunteering for this non-profit, you will be given the opportunity to form a connection with an individual who experiences Alzheimer’s and help slow the decline of their condition. You will share stories, make memories, and brighten someone’s mood.

WHY volunteer at Forget Me Never Foundation?

Special high school students of Nevada, just like you! We are looking for dynamic volunteers who are dedicated to helping others and wish to use their spare time to change the world, one connection at a time.

WHAT will I be doing as a volunteer?

All of our volunteers share one common goal: helping others. Therefore, we do not ask you to bring anything to your sessions with your senior. We provide a plethora of brain-stimulating games for you to play with them and we encourage each volunteer to learn more about their match by asking questions about their life and what they enjoy.

Volunteers must dress in business casual clothing to the session, and we will provide volunteers with a lanyard to wear whenever they volunteer so the memory care center can identify them.

We will also provide volunteers with a notebook and request that they record their seniors’ progress in terms of their mood, engagement level, and memory following each session. This is really important for us to know in what ways we can improve the system for the betterment of the seniors.

Application Process

By completing an application form, you are not automatically registered as a volunteer, but don't worry; the process does not take long!

After the application is processed, our team will match you with a senior who shares common interests with you, as this will be the individual you will interact with for the duration of your volunteer service.

We will notify you once we have found you a match, and then we will need to have a short virtual orientation meeting where we will instruct you on how to interact with your seniors, explain the policies and procedures of the memory care center that we are working with, and solidify your weekly schedule.

After that, you are officially an FMNF volunteer!

Time Commitment

We ask that all volunteers commit one day per week for one one-hour shift; however, you can schedule yourself for more hours as you please. Shifts run from 12:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. every day, seven days a week.

We also request that you commit a minimum of 6months of service.

Vetting of Volunteer Applicants

The Forget Me Never Foundation thoroughly vets each and every applicant to its Volunteer Program. Additionally, each facility in which one of our Volunteers provides assistance is also responsible for and advised to do its own vetting of any person engaged in any work or other activity in their facility, including any Volunteers from our Foundation.
